Turkey
The writing I am going to do is based on the
class work I did. Turkey is a European country but it is not member of the
European Union. I am going to talk about different aspects of this country,
such as geography, demography, economy, culture and language.
Turkey is made up of 81 provinces and these
provinces are divided between Asia (97%) and Europe (3%), and the capital is
Ankara. Turkey is encircled by three seas: Aegean, Black and Mediterranean Sea.
The most of the population is Turkish (75-90%) and the majority is Muslim.
Turkey has also become a destination for numerous immigrants, generally from
the former Soviet Bloc countries.
The currency of Turkey is the “New Turkish
Lira” and the most important natural recourses are different minerals produced
in the country.
In terms of music the most important types are
the traditional local music, the contemporary classical Turkish music and the pop
music. The most important types of food are the street food (kebabs), the
iskembe joints (a type of soup) and the fish. In terms of sports the most
practiced in Turkey are sailing, scuba diving, fishing, football and skiing.
And the 80% of people in Turkey follow the Sunni branch of the Islamic
religion.
The forth area to consider is the language. The
Turkish language belongs to the Altay branch of the Ural-Altay linguistic
family and it is spoken by 65-73 million people.
All things considered, I feel that Turkey has
many interesting characteristics, and even the globalization grows up I hope
that the Turkish culture keeps going its importance.
