Gay pride works for equal "rights and benefits" for LGBT people. Gay pride or LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) pride refers to a world wide movement that defends that lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people should be proud of their sexual orientation.

The movement has three main aims: that people should be proud of their sexual orientation and gender identity, that sexual diversity is a gift, and that sexual orientation and gender identity are natural and can’t be altered. Marches celebrating Pride are celebrated worldwide. The symbols of LGBT pride are the rainbow flag, the Greek lambda symbol, and the pink and also black triangles.

The gay pride day is celebrated all over the world, but the biggest parties take place in the most populated capitals of Europe like Berlin, Paris, Amsterdam, Madrid or Barcelona. All the participants take part in the city parade that is characterized by a positive atmosphere, the presence of disco music and colorful clothes.

Nowadays, it is not totally accepted that people of the same sex have relationships but, in the ancient Greek society the sexual identity was not a reason to exclude someone. If you want to know more history about it you can search for information here.

Do you think that gay pride day is only for LGTB people?

Don’t be so sure. Come and check it!
